In the final countdown to the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships Antalya 24, the medal design has been unveiled.
Termed ‘the medal of triumph shining under the sunlight’, the patterns on the medal – which have been inspired by traditional Turkish motifs – symbolise balance and perfection.
The striking lines on the medal evoke the sun’s rays, a reflection of Antalya’s warm climate. The beams, which were inspired by the ‘Century of Turkiye’ emblem, represent the light and energy of an athlete on the road to victory.
The medal will not only be an award for the top performers, but also a fitting memory of what will be a memorable competition in Antalya.
The World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships Antalya 24 takes place on Sunday 21 April. More than 400 athletes from about 50 countries will descend on the Turkish city, competing not only for medals but – as is the case for the marathon race walk mixed relay – for qualifying places at the Paris Olympic Games.
All races will be contested on a 2km loop course located close to the Antalya Expo Centre in Antalya. The first race starts at 7:00 local time, and the programme ends with the marathon race walk mixed relay at 12:55.
