Three of Poland’s leading middle-distance runners will compete at the Copernicus Cup in Torun on 10 February, one of the recent additions to the IAAF World Indoor Tour.

The meeting, which was recently awarded the ‘Queen of Sport Laurel’ for the best sporting event in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region of Poland, will feature European champion Adam Kszczot, European indoor champion Marcin Lewandowski and Olympic finalist Joanna Jozwik.

“The indoor season will be very important to me,” said Lewandowski, the European silver medallist. “It’s one of my favourite places to compete and I’m really looking forward to competing in front of a home crowd.”

Although the men’s 800m isn’t one of the scoring events for this year’s World Indoor Tour, the meeting’s general director Krzystof Wolsztyński added it to the programme as a non-scoring event so that Lewandowski could line up against Kszczot in their specialist event.

Jozwik will compete in the women’s 800m, which will be a scoring event in Torun along with the women’s 60m, pole vault and triple jump, plus the men’s 60m hurdles, 400m, 1500m and high jump. The men’s 60m, women’s 60m hurdles, 400m and 1500m are the other non-scoring events in Torun.
