Unveiling Ceremony of the Riku-One Statue

Today, WCH Tokyo 25 unveilved a bronze statue of the official championships mascot statue, Riku One outside the iconic Japan National Stadium - home to this years' spectacular event.

The statue was created to inspire excitement for the upcoming Championships and to become a lasting symbol that will bring back memories of the event’s thrilling atmosphere long after it’s over.

59 sixth graders from Mizuho Daiichi Elementary School, who happened to be on a stadium tour that day, joined in the festivities. Together, they unveiled the statue, filling the moment with smiles and laughter.

Takashi Takeichi, CEO of WCH Tokyo 25, expressed his gratitude, saying, “This ceremony wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support from Japan National Stadium Entertainment and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. We’re truly thankful. Set against the backdrop of the stadium and resting on the beautiful green grass, this Riku One statue is sure to become a popular photo spot that fans will love!”

Yūta Kawashima added with a smile, “I’m even more excited for the World Championships now. I haven’t been to the Japan National Stadium much before, so next time I want to come with my parents and friends. The event I’m most looking forward to is the women’s javelin with Haruka Kitaguchi—I really want to see her throw 70 meters!”

The Riku One statue will be relocated to another location within the stadium grounds after the championships, so the chance to take commemorative photos with the Japan National Stadium as a backdrop is limited! This special photo spot, symbolising WCH Tokyo 25 is the perfect place to capture a memorable moment with your friends, family and Riku One!
