The local organizing committee (LOC) of the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 conducted the first Partners Workshop with the World Athletics from 21-24 May.
In the opening remarks during the plenary presentation, one of the main programmes of the workshop, the President of the LOC, Mitsugi Ogata, said: ‘It is the responsibility of the LOC to organise the best Championships, and the LOC has accelerated its preparations by significantly expanding of organisational structure since April this year. Starting on 1 May, 500 days to go for the WCH Tokyo 25, we announced the ticket sales programme and volunteer outline, and started accepting Fan ID pre-registration to purchase the WCH Tokyo 25 tickets. Last week, on 13 May, the logo mark, the symbol of the WCH Tokyo 25 was unveiled, getting much Media coverage. With ticket pre-sales scheduled to start this summer, the momentum for the WCH Tokyo 25 will no doubt continue to build up. We look forward to working hand-in-hand with our WA partners to ensure that this excitement reaches its peak next September, and to communicating with them as we prepare for the success of the Championships."
After that, the LOC explained an update on the various areas of preparations, including organisational structure, competition management, ticketing, volunteers, hospitality, communications and legacy.
In addition, the LOC, the World Athletics and the World Athletics Partners also shared various information and had actively discussions to make the WCH Tokyo 25 more exciting and successful through site visits and meetings at the main stadium, the Japan National Stadium and hotels.
On the final day of the workshop, Dalton Odendaal, Chief Commercial Officer of World Athletics, said to conclude this event: ‘I would like to thank everyone for great efforts in organising this workshop. You all have put a lot of time and energy into the thorough preparation, which has brought us to share the excitement and expectation for the WCH Tokyo 25 with all of our partners. We have taken a great step forward."
The World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 will be held from 13-21 September 2025.
