Health & Science Department Director Stephane Bermon speaks at the Endurance Medicine Conference in Oregon

Experts in sports science and medicine will meet in Budapest thanks to the World Academy for Endurance Medicine, powered by World Athletics, and the Hungarian University of Sports Science. The Athletics Science and Medicine International Conference will be held on 22 August at the Budapest Sports Sciences University.

This yearly conference offers a platform for exchanging knowledge, discussing the latest advancements, and fostering collaborations within the athletics community. Renowned experts in the field, including key speakers Pr. Aaron Baggish and Dr. Alex Hutchinson, both members of the World Academy for Endurance Medicine Expert and Advisory Board, will present plenary lectures.

Aaron Baggish, a sports cardiologist and professor of Medicine and Sports Sciences at University of Lausanne, will deliver a lecture on cardiology and athletics. Alex Hutchinson is a former elite endurance athlete and a sports science journalist based in Canada. Before becoming a journalist, he completed a PhD in physics at the University of Cambridge and postdoctoral research in quantum computing. His lecture will focus on performance and innovation in athletics.

They will be joined at the conference by Arnaud Bruchard from Paris, Prof. Lacza Zsombor from Budapest and Dr. Frederic Garrandes from Monaco, who will address topics of muscle injuries, knee dynamics and heat stress, respectively.

Exchanges promise to be fruitful when team doctors from Kenya, Japan, United States and Spain share with the attendees their personal experience of common pathologies they have encountered in elite athletics.

Attendance is free of charge, but registration is required – click here to register.
