World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 Logo Design Selection Committee Members Decided

The local organising committee was accepting public submissions for the logo design of the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 to encourage people to take part in WCH Tokyo 25. We are pleased to announce that the selection committee members for the logo design have been decided. In addition, the selection committee will include members who had been selected from public applicants.

■ Chairperson 

Masahiko KIMURA 

President, GK Graphics Incorporated; Executive Director, GK Design Group Inc.; graphic designer

 

Provides services to major companies and local governments relating to brand communication, signage system design and product development while engaging in research and education as a typography specialist. Special Instructor, Department of Integrated Design, Tama Art University. Owner of the Recycling Meets Design Project, a social action to use design to address environmental challenges.

 

■ Members 

Kaori AKIYAMA

Representative Director, STUDIO BYCOLOR Inc.; designer

 

Founder and president of STUDIO BYCOLOR, a design office committed to effective utilisation of colours and materials in pursuit of creativity. Received numerous awards from inside and outside of Japan, including the iF Design Gold Award (Germany), one of the world’s most prestigious design prizes. Jury member of a number of design awards, including the GOOD DESIGN AWARD. Lecturer at Chiba University (Department of Design, Faculty of Engineering) and Hosei University (Department of Engineering and Design, Faculty of Engineering & Design).

 

Henry HO

President/Creative Director, GTDI Co., Ltd.; graphic designer

 

Representative director of GTDI, an international design firm based in Tokyo. Specializing in branding and packaging design projects for  world's leading companies across various industries, including food and beverage, cosmetics and hotels. Recipient of the GOOD DESIGN AWARD, Red Dot Award, and many other commendations. In 2016, established Topawards Asia, an invitation-only packaging design award, aiming to contribute to the development of creativity in this area.

 

Shingo SUETSUGU

Professional sprinter; specially appointed associate professor at Seisa University

 

Current Japanese record holder in the men’s 200 meters. Silver medallist in the 4 x 100 meters relay at Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and bronze medallist in the 200 meters at the 9th IAAF World Championships in Athletics, making him the first Japanese sprinter to win medals in each of the world’s premier events. He currently plays an active role in his own team, EAGLERUN as the oldest Japanese professional sprinter.

 

Chisato FUKUSHIMA

Former sprinter; Specially appointed assistant professor at the Faculty of Health and Sports Science, Juntendo University 

 

Current Japanese record holder in the women’s 100 meters and 200 meters. Before retiring from professional athletics, she represented Japan at three Olympic Games and four World Athletics Championships. Currently engages in various activities to contribute to the development of the sport of athletics, the field where she built her own competitive career, principally as a coach and advocate of the sport.
