The World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 will start on 13 September 2025, in exactly 555 days to go. The World Athletics Championships is the highest level of athletics competition and followed by more than a billion viewers on television, print and online media.
Around 2,000 athletes from more than 200 countries will take part in the nine-day competition, which will take place at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo.
The World Athletics Championships is held every two years, but due to a pandemic, the Championships was held in Oregon, USA, in 2022. Thus, after Oregon in 2022 and Budapest in 2023, Tokyo will take over the baton in 2025, bringing one of the world's most important sporting events to Japan.
Two world records were broken at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow last weekend.
History is also expected to be made at the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25.
