Organisers of the Meeting Areva, the eighth leg of the 2014 IAAF Diamond League, announced today (6) that Olympic champion Renaud Lavillenie will compete in Paris on 5 July.

Lavillenie, winner of the Diamond Race for every year since the inaugural Diamond League in 2010, has won at the past five editions of the only Diamond League meeting held in his home country.

His 5.92m performance in 2013 was his best performance to date in the Stade de France, but he is yet to clear six metres in the French capital. Having recently moved to second on the world all-time list behind Sergey Bubka with his 6.08m vault in Bydgoszcz, Lavillenie will have one eye on the world record throughout the 2014 season.

With five months to go until the event, the Meeting Areva has already announced the participation of Usain Bolt, the world and Olympic 100m and 200m champion, who will compete in the shorter sprint event in Paris.
