Jessica Ennis-Hill will return to the scene of her Olympic triumph as one of the star attractions as the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games, an IAAF Diamond League meeting, reopens the Olympic Stadium on Friday 24 July.

Ennis-Hill will be present alongside other icons of the sport including Usain Bolt and Mo Farah.

Having announced in April that she will compete at the IAAF Diamond League meeting, the heptathlon star has now confirmed she will compete in the 100m hurdles, an event at which she is the former British record-holder, against some of the world’s best as she seeks to push herself to her limits as part of her build up towards the IAAF World Championships in Beijing next month.

She will then return on Saturday afternoon to compete again in the long jump and the 200m.

The Olympic champion has admitted that the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games will be a crucial test as she continues to build up her competitive form, following her return to competition after the birth of her baby last year.

“I’m really excited to be competing on both days at the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games," she said. "It's been two years since I last competed in a Diamond League, the highest standard of competition in athletics.

“To be back competing at this level is a daunting test as it's only my fourth competition of the year. The events will be tough with great international and domestic fields, but I need to find out if I will be ready for Beijing and then ultimately Rio.

“I am really looking forward to competing in the Olympic Stadium again and I hope the British fans will turn out to support me and the other athletes, on what I’m sure will be another incredible night of athletics," she added.

The IAAF Diamond League action at the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games is spread across both Friday 24 July and the day after on Saturday.

The event takes place just four weeks before the IAAF World Championships in Beijing and will be the final time the original 2012 Olympic track is used before a new surface is laid for the IAAF World Championships, London 2017.
