World champion Veronica Campbell-Brown announced today that she will return to the adidas Grand Prix in New York City, part of the IAAF Diamond League, on 25 May to run her speciality, the 200m.

With seven Olympic and nine World Championships medals, 30-year-old Campbell-Brown of Jamaica is one of the most decorated sprinters in history. Her collection includes back-to-back Olympic gold medals at 200m in 2004 and 2008, as well as World Championship gold medals in 2007 (100m) and 2011 (200m).

In her last appearance at the adidas Grand Prix in 2010, Campbell-Brown scorched to victory over Allyson Felix in their first-ever meeting at 200m in the United States. Her winning time of 21.98 not only broke the meeting record, but it was also the fastest time in the world that year and the fastest 200m performance on US soil in almost a decade.

This will be Campbell-Brown’s sixth appearance at the New York City meet, at which she has won four times.  In addition to her 200m triumph, she has won the 100m three times—including a meeting record time of 10.91 in 2008—and she finished third at that distance once, albeit in a wind-aided 10.91.

Previously announced athletes for the adidas Grand Prix include David Rudisha, Jenn Suhr, Tyson Gay, Michael Tinsley, Bianca Knight, Jeremy Wariner and Javier Culson.
