Seventeen reigning world and Olympic champions will gather in Doha on Friday (4) to help kick off the 2018 IAAF Diamond League, which gets underway for the ninth straight year in the Qatari capital, and with it the chase for a piece of the series’ US$8 million prize money purse.
The provisional entry lists are now available for the first meeting of the 2018 IAAF Diamond League in Doha on 4 May.
Two-time Olympic, three-time world and six-time Diamond League champion Christian Taylor will kick off his 2018 IAAF Diamond League season in Doha on 4 May at the Qatar Sports Club in what promises to be a phenomenal triple jump showdown. Organisers have also announced a strong field in the women’s 100m hurdles lead by world record holder Kendra Harrison while Sandra Perkovic will top the field in the women’s discus.
A multitude of global champions will go head-to-head in the women’s pole vault and men’s javelin at the Doha Diamond League, the opening meeting of the 2018 IAAF Diamond League on 4 May. Organisers also announced that world 800m champion Caster Semenya, fresh off her Commonwealth Games 800m/1500m double victory, will head the field in the longer race.
World high jump champion Mutaz Barshim will be the headline name at this year’s Doha Diamond League on 4 May as he once again kicks off his 2018 outdoor season in front of a home crowd at the opening meeting of the 2018 IAAF Diamond League.
Team Qatar will be out in full force at this year’s Doha Diamond League.
